Neulpureun Foundation

Neulpureun Foundation, (the Korean word ‘neulpureun’ meaning ‘evergreen’), a non-profit organization under the Ministry of Environment, was founded by KD Navien’s chairman Son, Yeon-Ho in April 2000. This organization focuses in various activities concerning environment protection and academic studies in the environment. KD Navien supports Neulpureun Foundation to provide various activities for the cause of environment protection and energy conservation for the society.

  • National Exhibition of Korean Landscape Architecture

    National Exhibition of Korean Landscape Architecture

    To improve the environment and its harmony with modern society, the Neulpureun Foundation gathers ideas from university students studying landscape architecture, architecture, and environment. Since 2000, it has been hosting the National Exhibition of Korean Landscape Architecture in order to accelerate the growth of environment related fields and improve the influence of environmental education. As the competition has established itself as a major event in the field of Korean environmental landscape architecture, the Neulpureun Foundation is now encouraging participation from the general audience, compared to previous years when it restricted the categories to specifically-related majors.

    Neulpureun Energy Engineering Award and Supporting the Korean Resource Economic Association

    Neulpureun was awarded environmental technology prize from Seoul-shi in 2000 for the financial and technological contribution for category of research and technology development for environment recovery. Further, the organization has been prized from the minister of construction and transportation for its contribution to finding and raising human resources related to landscape architecture through Neulpureun landscape architecture design competition (currently ‘National Exhibition of Korea Landscape Architecture’) at the 30th anniversary for foundation of KILA on 18th of December in 2002.

    Raising of Condensing Environment Fund

    KD Navien participates in the campaign for improvement in urban environments and the growth of environmental education and related fields it sponsors through the Neulpureun Foundation and affiliated company KD Ceratech. To celebrate the accreditation of the ‘Ecolabel’ for condensing boilers in April 1999 and the selection as high efficiency energy device product in 2000 for the first time in Korea, with every sale, a part of the profit is raised for environmental funds since the year 2000. The condensing environment fund delivered to the Neulpureun Foundation is being used in launching the environmental campaign with affiliated institutes, issuing of environment related publications, and support for environment related NGOs in order to improve the serious air pollution and gain awareness among people.

    Promotion of Roof Planting Business

    The Neulpureun Foundation has shown great interest in the green roof system. In 2002, the Sky Hill 21 that materialized the green roof system, was created on the roof of KyungDong’s headquarters. Today, when global warming and energy saving are emerging as social issues, we are helping our society overcome those problems by creating green zones on rooftops where plants may grow via green roof systems that use ultra light artificial soil.

    Academic Seminar Related to Environmental Issue

    The Neulpureun Foundation has raised the poor perception on environment in Korea and relevant technology and has suggested detailed solutions to Korea’s environmental issues. Further, the organization has been holding academic seminars with participation of scholars from relevant fields cooperated by relevant organizations for interests from academic field and the public in such issue.

    Activities Supporting the International Society of Ondol (ISO)

    KD Navien supports the ISO via funds and free boilers and agrees in spreading traditional Korean Ondol (underfloor heating) and dwelling culture throughout the world with its eco-friendly condensing boiler. With the scientific evidence and pride that KD Navien’s condensing boiler is the most appropriate for the comfortable ondol heating system, we plan to continue with our support in spreading Korea’s condensing boiler and ondol heating system nationwide, as well as, throughout the world.
